Drawing from his firsthand experience since 1984, Tim has specialized in corporate investigations, risk mitigation, technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM), major fraud investigations, internet and financial crimes, asset searches, product counterfeiting, due diligence, and workplace violence prevention. As the founder of The Grafton Group & TSD, he has assembled a national team of seasoned practitioners and courtroom-tested forensic experts, ensuring every case is handled with precision and integrity to provide clear, actionable insights.
Tim‘s expertise is demonstrated through key certifications and contributions:
- Certified Protection Specialist (CPS), earned in 1989 from Executive Security International (ESI), often regarded as a leading institution in executive protection training.
- Fellow of the Florida Board of Certified Investigators (FBCI), underscoring his commitment to professional standards.
His authoritativeness in the industry is evidenced by leadership roles and advisory positions:
- Served as President of the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators (FALI), where he doubled membership and elevated it to the second-largest statewide PI association in the U.S.
- Held appointments as Vice President and Legislative Chair for FALI, as well as committee member, advisor, speaker and participant in state, national, and international organizations including ASIS, CALI, FALI, NCISS, TALI, and WAD.
- Advised the Florida regulatory body for private investigators from 2005 to 2013, appointed by Florida Commissioner C. Bronson, including serving as Vice Chair and Chair of the Private Investigation, Recovery, and Security Advisory Council in 2010-11.
- Contributed to developing post-9/11 training curricula for the Department of Licensing (DOL), which regulates security and investigators under Florida Statute 493.
- Acted as an active advocate for private investigators and security professionals for nearly two decades, including frequent contributions to professional publications on operations, ethics, and standards.
- From the 1990s through 2012, provided expert commentary alongside colleagues on major Tampa Bay news outlets, including WFLA (NBC), WTSP (CBS), WTVT (FOX), WFTS (ABC), and WFLA 970 Radio, offering insights on investigative and security matters.
